THE CRUX OF WHY RELIGION SUCKS

'In a discussion of the BBC's Radio 5, I have just heard a man blithely say that gay men would die out 'in the wild' because they do not naturally reproduce: he typically drivels on about not being homophobic and having homosexuals among his friends. I am not surprised he has got friends- birds of a feather flock together and pretend to be friends as it suits them.

However, my point is that this is where persistent gender emphatics for profit or politics has got us. Fewer and fewer people seem able to embrace the truth that nature made the majority of us contextually anysexual- gay men may not make intercourse with women their first choice but that is not the same as saying as they are unable to do it when push comes to shove. Before getting yourself on a public platform and mouthing off your bigotry it is always preferable to have done a lot of research- often such research will enlighten you and make you back off from making a total arse of yourself.

Unfortunately there is just no saving some people. They are unwittingly let onto the airwaves by intelligent teenage production assistants very conscious of how entertaining or inflaming their stupid comments will be. I take the pessimistic view that in fact there are millions like this ignorant idiot who are similarly very ill-informed and I look to the rise of the far right neo-nazis in cash-strapped Greece and shudder at the degree to which we are ignoring the lessons of WW2- the ethnic cleansing then was not just about the much publicised Jewish situation BUT also about ALL segments of society that did not fit the edicts of the strict regime.

[I have deliberately refrained from commenting on the video I posted of Pastor Charles L. Worley- preaching for the death of queers and homosexuals- everything about it is beneath contempt. His voice, however, is being happily lapped up by his growing congregation of deluded sociopaths. In the face of this- embracing optimism would appear to be sheer folly.]' CM

'Tony Parsons replied to me suggesting that phone contributors to radio shows may well be negatively vetted- yes I agree, and the majority seem to be overdue a chemical or surgical vetting. LOL. PLUS- why oh why must programme makers home in on human fertility issues as much as they do. Those whom it touches do not need to be informed, they are always the most informed on all counts.
If it is more properly a debate about the way the NHS elects to spend or save money then expect to listen to a whole hour of people pussy footing about and quite afraid to call a spade a spade- not that ordinary people can change things in either respect. As Tony suggests- lets blame Jeremy Kyle.' CM

'Access to the exercise of a palpable love should be the sole criteria to any profound act of bonding- NOT the slavish adherence to any rule ridden creed cobbled together by some of the most bigoted elements in society IN THEIR OWN INTERESTS to shore up and perpetually protect their power base. ALL extant tracts of any historical merit point to the undeniable fact that the early 'christian' church expressed its christianity in a way which totally embarrasses all of the offshoots that exist today. The much vaunted return of Christ is something that NO christian hierarchy desires because they know the degree to which they would be found ugly and abhorrent by the guy they pray to so regularly- the risen Christ would be a pacifist, humanist, purist-communist unable to countenance the wealth and poverty divide worldwide whilst churches in his name revel in immense riches. That Christ might well say- if there is food in your larder and clothing in your living quarters and ten pounds in your pocket you can afford to give nine of those pounds to the poor and needy. It is a substantial and VERY CLEAR christian ethic which when applied proportionately to the richest on the planet would mean a true redistribution of wealth. OF COURSE THAT WOULD NEVER DO. And this is one of the very many reasons at the crux of why ALL religions suck.' CM

'I'm continuing my holistically interactive dance with nature I have found that my working weekends have now extended to include all of Tuesday- there is far more to do and I have no objection to being of service; greenhouse, cold-frames, conservatory. And this year- in the sun-trap, south-facing dog-leg of our isolated dwelling I am creating a container vegetable garden to grow the things we love which have become expensive in the shops.

The flowers have gone elsewhere to another experimental wild-garden by a fallen oak. I feel a growing pressure to use the camera in my new iPad.

Now, what should I be doing; I could write a long list BUT I enjoy being something of an anarchist and since I am in a position where I can allow nature to play a significant part in my life it is wonderful to take the minutes as they come.

I am being influenced by those pioneers who are writing about the transformation that awaits our bodies should we choose to return to a type of hunter-gatherer diet- far removed from the supermarket trawl diet. My patio is not far to go to- willow basket in hand, garnering organic radish and rocket. YES I have a straw hat BUT as yet no spear or bow and arrow, though I confess to having dark thoughts about the wild rabbits, particularly the hunter-gatherer rabbits who stole all the tender leaves from my baby Willow trees.' CM

'The truth is that my general position is one of disliking almost everybody else's creative efforts- I love this position. Let me explain; living in expectation of little in this respect I do enjoy the rare moments of sheer joy when someone's work, whatever the genre, blows my mind into being awake to their vision. I seldom get passed the first twenty minutes of any movie, the first quarter of any
new book, I will quietly walk out of art exhibits that disappoint. Crowd pleasing is a good litmus test for me- the merest whiff of it and I am beyond even bothering to critique. More abhorrent is the voice of someone expressing their oneness with an art for reasons other than the art itself. I get deeply embarrassed, I guess for mankind, that such creatures exist in the glow of the mistaken belief that their hypocrisy and shallow toadiness is quite unspottable. You know the type- you might even be one.' CM

  1. There really isn’t anything more to add to this. You’ve hit the nail on the head and driven it home. Leaving me with meagre pickings. Believe it or not, I suffer from the same malaise. There are only a few books I love to read and I go back to them. The rest – apart from books on subjects I find interesting – leave me cold. The same with films. And I watch very little TV. I think nature drew us together in a final effort to overthrow society. She will fail because the Beast has grown too big and fat. It will need something more powerful than that. QMM perhaps? Who knows? But the three of us will die trying.
